for a disc-o. I have the end I cut off of a 24" tank, when I built my cooker http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=56680&highlight=, and was wondering if I could make a disc cooker out of it? I like the ones with the tray off to the side, and am leaning towards this type. I guess my question is, with the disc blades having a smoother finish it would seem than tank steel, would I have trouble getting it (food) to not stick? I have access to sandblasters and glass beaders so getting it to bare metal is no issue. Also the outside finish is no prob as we are a millitary and aerospace painting contractor. I would just hate to go thru the trouble to build it and it not cook worth a flip, lol... Thanks! _________________ Arise, kill and eat...Acts 10:13

browning_gold_12, I've found lard or frying up some bacon works well for seasoning, olive oil has a pretty low smoke point and is expensive.
I fry up a pound of bacon, when the grease cools down some, wipe it around to make sure everything is covered, and re-heat the disk.
Good luck with your build. |

Heres what I am starting with. 24" tank end.
I decided to go ahead and blast it to begin with, to see how bad the pitting was gonna be. At the FD today, so maybe when I get back to the shop tomorrow I can make some headway.

browning_gold_12, Looks great, both the disc and the food.
I like the multi purpose handles.
Are you sure you like brownings?
Looking forward to more cook pics. |
