This past weekend we competed in the first annual Bliss Brews & Que cookoff on the Ft. Bliss military base in El Paso, TX. It was the first ever KCBS cookoff on a US military base. Ft. Bliss is huge, the largest base in the US. It was held at Freedom Crossing, a shopping area and mall on the base. It was a nice setting and the organizers did a great job for a first year event and took real good care of us. It was also fun giving out all our leftovers to the troops as samples. We took 1st in chicken, 3rd in ribs and pork, and 5th in brisket for Reserve Grand Champion. In our last 5 contests we have won 3 Grand Championships and 1 Reserve.

I love my Pitmaker BBQ Vault! Next stop, Lynchburg, TN!

To win a BBQ competition you have to consistently cook all 4 meat categories well. I credit our Pitmaker BBQ Vault smoker for our consistency.

So everything else is the same? Was the smoker the only change?
Is it just the consistant temp it keeps or more rest you get?
In your opinion what makes it a better, more consistant smoker?
