Hi, all,

We were contemplating cooking Fire Lake at Shawnee OK here in a couple of weeks for my birthday, and I wondering if anyone had cooked it before. Where is it held? I read through the registrations and other information on their website, but couldn't find any reference to the actual location. Any general information on this comp is most welcome.

Thanks much - Keri

I looked at their site, but didn't see anything about where, I'm just guessing that it's by the store somewhere? You'll probably have to call the contact person Confused

This is the first one for them. We spoke to the guys promoting it and according to them we'll be on the grass just to the south of the parking lot.
You can google map "Firelake Discount Foods" for directions. It's across the street from the golf course if that helps any. lol

This was a great first time event. We haven't done a whole lot of theses yet. (6) all together but this one was the best so far.
The people putting this on were as nice and helpfull as anyone could be. The spots were on well kept grass. Electric, water and RV hooks up had it all and each spot had their own. They had pizza Friday evening for us and breakfast the next morning. The trophies were great, no ribbons. Paid in cash. Free ice.
They did change the first come gets closest to the turn in. They ended up reserving the closest spots for the better cook teams, but we understand that. Our spot was next to the furtherest away but it was just fine with us.
We cannot wait to go back!!
Thanks to everyone there!!

May have to add this one to our schedule for next year. We like comps where the teams are set up at RV spots -- makes it really nice with our travel trailer.

Steve, it really was a nice place. Level ground, and its the first time we could just hook the RV totally up. Each spot has all the plugs you could need. I didn't have to have 1 or 5 adapters. lol Never lost power. They have showers.
I don't have anything to do with it except for competing in it and I usually don't shout from the roof top like this but it was such a welcome change for us. I imagine those bigger events are all that way but for a 25 team event it was awesome. And it was put on by a huge grocery store which was within walking distance. My wife was happy since she ends being the go getter.

Having the full RV hookups is also why we love the Claremore comp (back-to-back after Bixby). That way we can dump our tanks after the Bixby comp.

We love having water hookup too. We have an external shower on our TT so we set up a table and dish pan and make that our cleanup area with all the hot water we need.

I wish more comps would utilize RV parks.
