Greetings,
The wife and I want to get our daughters 3&5 a game console. Any suggestions between Wii and Xbob Kinect? We want them to have plenty of games for dancing and moving. My concern is the Wii controllers with buttons may end up being too confusing or end up in my tv or thrown accross the room. I am leaning towards Xbox, but wanted some feedback from folks who have played

My 5 year old daughter figured out she could sit down and move the controller. Shocked

My advice, give it a few more years. Spend the extra time going for a walk to the park and playing with them in the yard. Wink

The Wii is nice if you like there game selection and if you enjoy old school games as you can download a crap ton of old Nintendo games to play. Also remote has a wrist strap to prevent throwing but the sensor is iffy on some games. I own a Wii got it before they came out with kinect.

Kinect better motion capture from what I have seen since its not dependent on remote.

My advice is check out what games they would like, not all games are available for both systems.

Hey Ron, get em a Weber 18".
Webers don't break when you throw em across the room. Shocked
The controllers are tongs, spatchula, ThemaPen, etc.
The little ones can also dance around the Weber whilest flipping the burgers.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Julio too.

I agree with Mish. Check out what games they like and go from there.

The wii has a better selection of kid friendly games. We went with a wii for out little one several years ago when it came out and he has yet to outgrow it. Even the Mrs plays it. We dig the games that came with it such as bowling, golf, baseball and such. Simple but fun.

+1

We play ours as a family quite a bit with the bowling and sports games. My daughter loves the water skiing game. We've had ours for I think 4 years.

I think the x-box may be geared just a little more for the teen and older group based on the kind of games available not to mention when I bought a wii a few months back the sales clerk said he thinks Nintendo needs to start coming out with more advanced older level player games to compete with the compitition because he thinks right now wii is geared more for younger players but hey I like it. Even though sometimes you have to use 2 controllers to play some games it really isn't hard to get the hang of using 2 because the nunchuck is for basic moves.

We have a Wii for our 6 and 8 yr old boys. Got it last Xmas for them. They love it... the little one picked up the control very quickly. Don't underestimate their ability to soak in anything and everything they encounter.

Typical me being late Ron and by now you've probably been up half the night doing that "black Friday" shopping with the wife Razz But Trent got his when he was 7 and he picked it up no problems. By the time Braden was 3 to 3 1/2 he was a pro at it. Laughing More kid friendly games that are fun for us parents too. You wont be sorry with the wii.

Just my late 2CW Very Happy

Like everything else you will be surprised at how fast they figure it out. My kids are 3 and 7 but they were 1 and 5 when we got the Wii. My three year old is a wiz on it now so your kids will be just fine.
