I followed this method when I made ABTs yesterday. I omitted the sugar, but included cheddar cheese and used Lil Smokies soaked in barbecue sauce. They tasted great! A little large for "finger food", though. I might use a half of a jalapeno next time, to make it a little easier to eat. _________________ NJ Barbecue

You shoulda tried these....the original ABT thread. I always follow this recipe and just stand back and watch the people fight over them.

I saw that too, but I thought a whole jalapeno would've been small enough. Next time I'll use jalapeno halves. _________________ NJ Barbecue

I recently used the jap holder and corer from Iron Desert and they were fantastic. The corer cut my time in half and did a much better job than my past efforts. The holder was more convenient and held the peppers upright.
I can't recommend them highly enough. The abt's were pretty basic (cream cheese, a little brown sugar, some fruit preserves and bacon) but they turned out excellent. Better results with less work. Good combo.

I love this forum, you guys all have great ideas and recipes. Right now we have our smoker full to the brim, four chickens, two fatties, fourteen abt's and four pieces of corm on the cob wrapped in bacon:-) Every time we do abt's something is a little different, never had any we didn't love. |

Made a small batch of ABTs last night. The wife and dinner guests said it when they told me I could make them again, anytime.
Thanks for the recipe! _________________ Cheers!

I've never tried these with the little smokies. I do, however, mix up my cream cheese with honey. I need to grow some Jalapeno plants next year. |

Made my first batch this afternoon.....now wonders why it's taken me so long...
Only change I made was to use Splenda for a little sweetner and I also added some chipotle seasoning to the chream cheese mix as well.
Only bacon I had on hand was thick sliced, will make note to keep some thinner sliced on hand for the future _________________ Good Food, Good Drinks, Good Laughs

I've made these before but, without the little smokey it sounds like it would taste awsome. They are pretty darn good with out so it could only make them better. |
