I wasn't shopping for a brisket but wasn't passing on that. Choice has been going for $2.29 - $2.69 lb this summer so I was pleased when the wife said "you can't pass that up"! I got Prime Strip and Prime Rib Eye Loins there this spring for $8.69 lb and filled the freezer with steaks. I had just had a nice 20 oz Prime NY Strip Saturday night and that was still slam dancing in my head today..... the brisket has beautiful marbling. Don't know when I'm cooking it but me and the stickburner are going to have us a night out real soon!!

Why can't my Costco's carry packer briskets? Confused

I would love to get them for that price.

Ask them, speak to the butchery / meat manager, speak to the store manager, find friends and family that are also members and get them to do the same.

The more noise you make the higher the chance they will bring them in...even if only by request!

I'm very fortunate to be at BBQ ground zero!!! Costco and Sam's carry everything you'd ever want for the smoker, individual cry o vac or case prices....many meat markets that sell everything from head to toe of beef, pork and exotic meats. Several large stores that carry every piece of equipment or gadgets that the smoking/grilling enthusiasts could ever want. Love living in the burbs of KC.

I'd like to know just how the pricing works on briskets. Super Walmart in town has select packers for $4.98 a pound. About 10 miles down the road, a little independent store has choice for $2.48. Another super wally about 20 miles away has choice for 2.18.

Would there be that much variation in suppliers prices?? Or, does everybody just price whatever they have at whatever the traffic will bear??

KC - Thanks for the heads up. I read the thread a couple days ago and happened to be in CostCo today so I hit the meat aisle.

Found the usual flats for $4+ (ugh!), then I saw the whole briskets. Checked the price and indeed $2.45, or $34 for a 14lb brisket. Very Happy

I decided to temp fate and slid down to the ribeye primals and WOOHOO! the price had dropped from $8.39/lb on the last visit to $6.89/lb. I grabbed the one that looked the most marbled and ran.

Dinner tonight made everyone smile, and I've got lots of meat for steak dinners and making pastrami.

I think I also paid 6.89 at Sam's last week. Good looking steaks. Great flavor.

All those prices sound good. Since brisket really isn't that popular, it's kinda hard to find around me, I end up paying around $8 a pound which is cheap for beef in Ontario anyway, but a whole packer cost me about $80.

What are others in Ontario paying for whole packers?
