Seems a common frustration when building a pit out of a round tank is the doors warping when you cut them out. I'm in the planning stages of my next build and was wondering if the tank/doors warp any more or less if you quartered the entire tank (after cutting off the ends and recapping them). This way I can frame both the tank and the quartered section that will be the door and have two flat surfaces contacting one another making it as air tight as possible.

If the door does indeed spring less, what are the drawbacks of cutting my door this way?

jayhusker, on a 30" tank I see a problem with handle height once mounted. This is why I drop the top door cut on 30" cookers.
I hope this helps. Very Happy

Are you cutting your doors with a torch? The heat makes them spring back. We use a plasma to reduce the problem. Cutting blades on a grinder would work also, but would be slow.
