This pile of Oak, Cherry, Ash, & Maple 3X4X24" pieces. I knew who delivered it, so ,I called to thank him & he said this stuff was cut off the 6ft. pieces that support the piles of lumber in the dry kiln. These hunks have been thru the drying cycle quite a few times. He said he'd trade this for a couple racks of ribs...sweet Very Happy
( yes, I might be a redneck, cause I take my dog to work!)

My wife's workplace recently lost a pretty large part of a huge live oak. There were several piles of fireplace sized logs stacked up around the area. I waited over a week to see if anyone came to dispose of it. After that amount of time I decided it was up for grabs.

I have a sick back so I had someone load my pickup bed full of the stuff.

I also had a very young pecan tree die on the construction lot next door...maybe 5" diameter at the base & probably 10' tall at the highest twig. Not a ton of wood to have, but we got three decent boxes of mini-logs (down to 1" in diameter). Not great "burning" wood, but perfect smoking pieces to throw in the WSM on top of charcoal.
