I dug out my old desktop PC to use in my new office. It's a HP Inspiron (from '07) running Windows XP. At the time it was a Hot Rod and it as all the goodies that made it a high-end machine back then. So now it's great for surfing and email . My problem with it is when I scroll web pages they do what I can best describe as 'layering'. Instead of the page moving up or down, the next view appears as a new page slightly up or down. Kinda like rolling out a new sheet of paper on top of the old one, if that makes any sense. And it doesn't do it on every website. Doesn't matter if I use the mouse wheel or the up/down arrows. It makes scrolling slow and it's really irritating me . I don't remember it doing this before, but I haven't used it in a couple of years, so I could be wrong. I tried the Google-Fu, but I don't know what to search for. Anybody have any ideas? _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

Thanks. I did all the updates for Windows, and installed a newer mouse driver. I'll look for a vid card update. I'm also gonna add more memory (Only has 2gb). _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

Well, tried the vid card update. Didn't really change anything. What's irritating me is it doesn't do it on every website. And on some sites it will work 'normal' and then start 'layering'.

No I haven't. I'm thinking about it, but I'm just so used to IE that I'm afraid of becoming even more confused than I already am _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

Dan - I just updated Java and Adobe. No difference
Mike - I'm getting ready to go that route. When the wife asks what happened I'll just shrug my shoulders and say "Uhhh...whoops???"
This thing works great except for the F'n irritating scroll part. _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

Try the new browser to see if it takes care of the problem. If not, then you know it could be hardware. There have been a lot of changes since your old browser was in use. |

I have the newest version of IE (that xp supports) installed. I'm going to install Firefox and see what happens. _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)

I just installed Firefox. HOLY CHIT!!!!!!!!! What a COMPLETE difference from IE. The layout is much the same, but pages load quicker and the graphics are much clearer. Thanks Stainless!!!!! My other computers will have Firefox on them by the end of the evening.
Edit - It also fixed the scrolling problem. _________________ The Matt Ryan of LIARS! (#2)
