Hello all, built my first smoker this past spring http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64353&highlight=

I love cooking with it, but being a stick burner it requires almost constant supervision.....in July this is not a bad thing, in fact I find it rather relaxing. Now that winter is starting to set in I am looking to build something a little easier to run from my recliner! I have a frame I have repurposed to use as the cabinet, it measures 28"w x 12"d x 30"t, inside the frame I have lined it with 3/4" plywood covered in 20ga steel. I am using a 1000w burner for heat.

What I am wondering is how big to make the inlet and exhaust? I don't want to make them too big making it hard to hold temp but don't want them too small as to not breathe well enough either. What do the pros have to say?

also please post pics of your home made electrics!
