Sold my Lang 84 Deluxe. I miss her, bad. I originally bought her to start a small catering biz on the side. However, my day job ramped up considerably with a lot of travel. So, she sits at the house unused. I maybe do 8-10 pigs a year. It is too good a piece of gear to just let sit. So I placed an ad and she went to a better home. A home where she will get used regularly. Of course just yesterday a buddy asked if I would smoke a pig for his retirement ceremony in a few weeks. Painful. I miss her. I'm gonna regret this I know. One bright side I sold it for more than I paid for it. There is that.

Sorry to hear that Dan. Crying or Very sad

I don't think I could part with my off set even though I don't get to use it on a regular basis.

At least now you have some extra dough for other hobbies, and while you can't cook a whole hog, you can still do pig parts on the WSM Very Happy

Yeah, its one of those you don't realize how you used it or need it till its gone.

Only way I could give up mine would be for another one. I way to used to have the space on the trailer cooker to downsize at this point. Almost wish it was a 26-28" instead of the 24" I went with. But it works great so no complaints haha.

Dan: I am in awe of your cooking progress. May I be so bold as to suggest a Cookshack brand electric smoker. I have a Smokette that will do max about 25# at a time. They make much larger ones and they are a pleasure to use. I have made ribs, briskets, pulled pork butts etc. and I can't taste the difference from items made on my offset smoker. Doing a 15 hour brisket is just loading the tray with two to three ozs. of wood pieces, setting the temp and heading for bed. Will smoke all night and no having to tend the fire. I have listed my Brinkman Cimarron offset for sale as the Cookshack does such a great job, and for longer cooks I don't have to babysit the smoker. My two cents. Keep smoking and sending those wonderful pictures and recipes.

Sellers remorse will fade away I know the feeling. Debbie and I sold the boat to a good home. It was tough but since we have started cooking more she sat more. It was a shame to let her sit.
Congrats on coming out ahead Brother. Very Happy

Also, they are so sure you will like their product that they offer a 30 day money back guarantee. Not too many others offer that guarantee. If you are looking for something that you don't have to babysit, I can't recommend more highly a Cookshack. Would be interested in what you decide.

Maybe look at a 24" x 48" Back yard cooker from Shirley Fabrication Dan.
Small enough to move around or load on a trailer and you get to tend a fire again Brother. Wink

Sorry to hear work is getting in the way of cooking some good BBQ Dan.. Laughing Wink

Another WSM or a UDS will allow you to still cook enough meat for your events though you wont be able to do the piggies like you have been doing.

Dan, I have friends that live near you in Stafford. They told me about this "guy" who has this cool cooker...

You are more than welcome to use mine, it's no Lang but she does pretty well.

Mark

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Will take my time and think it over.

Mark, that is very generous. Thank you and much appreciated. Do I know your friends? Wonder how they heard of me? Hmmmm.
