I won't be seeing my mom next Sunday, so we had everyone over for an early Mother's Day dinner today. She's been bugging me to cook some ribs for a while now...so ribs it is. I did a couple beer butt chickens too since my sister doesn't eat pork Rolling Eyes

Fortunately, I didn't have to cook in the rain like Kevin and Rick...sunny and 75 in Seattle today! Cool

Ribs going on the smoker. I did an experiment with three different rubs today, so I marked the slabs with toothpicks to keep track of which was which.

Chicken going on the old kettle little bit later. Rubbed these bad Johnny's down with some Montreal Chicken Seasoning...love this stuff Very Happy

Ribs ready to come off the pit

Chicken's done

Chicken sliced up. Man was it good!

Three numbered plates of ribs, one for each slab so we could keep track of who liked what, roasted sweet potatoes, and grilled asparagus. My wife also made a kick ass cabbage and jicama slaw that I failed to get a pic of Embarassed

Sorry, no plated pics...was getting too hungry by then Very Happy

I fail to see how anyone wouldn't enjoy that cook. I'm a big rib fan, but those yardbirds look mighty fine by themselves.

Thanks cowboy and Mike Very Happy so, I did a taste test with my rub, k.a.m.'s rub and Big Ron's Competition Rub. I didn't tell anyone who's was who's until they told me told me their choice, and the votes came back in a three way tie. Everyone agreed that all three were good, but some prefer more spice, or sweetness, etc.

Thanks Rick Very Happy we've had a pretty nice spring, but I've spent some time under a patio umbrella tending Q, and, yeah, its not as much fun

Thanks Kevin and Big O. Very Happy them yardbirds were damn good. I mixed up some of the Montreal Chicken Seasoning (did I mention I love this stuff?) with butter and rubbed it under the skin on the breasts. Not sure if it helped with the moistness, but they sure were juicy breasts, and who doesn't like a juicy breast? Chicken breast that is Laughing Very Happy
