In March I emailed Royal Oak Charcoal inquiring about a sponsorship for Debbie's and my competition team. They emailed me back with their requirements and said let us know your team stats at the end of the year.
I am Happy to say while we missed the mark by five spots our record spoke for itself and they picked us up for the 2016/2017 season. You needed to be in the top 25 of your organization. Debbie and I finished 30th. out of 567 registered teams in IBCA with only 15 cooks for the year. We were also Cookers of the year for Third coast pit with a score of 400 points. Second place was 210 points.
Today we received our banner and charcoal for the season. Thank you Royal Oak for believing in us and allowing us to represent y'all.

Congrats Kevin & Debbie! I can't think of a more deserving team for such recognition.

As you know those ROCS are my favorite charcoal briquettes BTW - 100% Hardwood - good taste & judgement shows! Wink

Way cool and congrats!

I assume all that chopped wood is like hickory or cherry and not for roasting chestnuts this winter?

Wow that is so cool. I have such fond memories of Royal Oak. My uncle owned a country store meat market and they carried Royal Oak. When my dad grabbed a couple of bags I knew magic was fixing to happen. That takes me back almost 50 years to my first memories of my dad and his ribs, chicken and turkey's that were out of this world. So glad for you two. Royal Oak could not have picked two finer people to carry their flag and cook with their charcoal.
