Need some advice on a new grill for my father's Bday.
Price range is ~$300.
Doesn't need a large capacity.
Smoker box isn't required.
Would rather it be something that can be found in town (Lowes, Sears, Target ect.)
If it can do duel fuels (propane and charcoal) that would be excellent.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks! |

If you want a grill that could be used as a smoker, then I would look at the new version of the Smoke N Pit from Brinkman (The one with a metal shelf on the front and not wood). It is more of a grill than a smoker. In fact, don’t buy it if you want primarily a smoker because I can’t see it doing a real great job. But as a GRILL than can smoke (if needed) it would be a good choice. _________________ https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaeloberry |

there is always the old faithful Weber kettle,
They make a full grilling area deal with a charcoal storage bin, counter space, and a side burner for about $300.00 at our local ace hardware.
It is something I would love to have.
Those hasty-bake units are neat looking, but I would imagine the pricing being way up there too. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

If I had it to do all over again, I would have skipped the Charbroil "quickset" gas grill and bought the Weber Performer. It's a charcoal grill with gas assist, using lump it would have been just as quick as my gas grill to get ready to cook.

Correction Amazon was cheaper with free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_link_4358152_7/104-5769957-8323944?ie=UTF8&node=562832&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0K3Y504753Z49TAB1RXK&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=273245501&pf_rd_i=292639
You can also check your local Ace Hardware.
Good Luck! |

my favorite grill so far has been a Char Broil Santa Fe. out of all the grills ive used so far this one has been my favorite. 4 vents makes it very easy to control temp and turned out great food every time. my dad came to town and i grilled all week. he had a weber kettle at home and bought a santa fe as soon as he got back home. he's been really happy with it and calls to tell me what great food he's been grilling ever since. they sell them at home depot for $109. id definately recommend it to anyone looking for something cheap that gets the job done every time. mine sat outside and was through every kind of bad weather with no protection after 2 faithful years i moved to an apartment complex that didnt allow us to have our own grills. i gave it to a friend at work and its still cooking strong. he comes to work and tells me how great it cooks and its now his favorite as well. it has an adjustable charcoal tray with 3 different heights, shelves on each side, ceramic coated grills and a door on the front for cleaning out ash. im now contemplating buying another, or looking into their more expensive model cb940x. hope that helps.
